Converting Between Temperature Scales

Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin all measure the same physical quantity using different scales. Fahrenheit is common in the United States, Celsius is used in most of the rest of the world, and Kelvin is used in science because it starts at absolute zero.

Common Reference Points

Water freezes at 0 Celsius, 32 Fahrenheit and 273.15 Kelvin, and boils at 100 Celsius, 212 Fahrenheit and 373.15 Kelvin at sea level.
