Butter is sold in sticks in the US but many recipes call for cups, tablespoons or grams. One standard US stick of butter weighs about 113 grams and equals half a cup or eight tablespoons.

Why This Matters for Baking

Baking is sensitive to ratios, so measuring butter accurately by weight (grams) usually gives more consistent results than measuring by volume.
