How Recipe Scaling Works

Divide the number of servings you want by the original number of servings to get a scale factor. Multiply every ingredient quantity in the recipe by that same factor to keep proportions consistent.

Tip

Scaling works well for most ingredients, but leavening agents like baking soda, spices, and cooking times don’t always scale perfectly — adjust those to taste and check food earlier than the original recipe suggests.
