How Tire Diameter Is Calculated
The sidewall height equals the tire width multiplied by the aspect ratio percentage, converted from millimeters to inches. Overall diameter equals the wheel diameter plus two sidewall heights (top and bottom). Circumference is diameter multiplied by pi.
Why It Matters
Changing tire size affects your speedometer accuracy, gearing, and ground clearance, so comparing overall diameter helps you choose a compatible replacement size.
